Alberta’s health minister should be fired: NDP leader Nenshi

Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi is calling for Premier Danielle Smith to fire Health Minister Adriana LaGrange over allegations of high-level corruption in medical contracts. These allegations came to light through a wrongful dismissal lawsuit filed by Athana Mentzelopoulos, the former head of Alberta Health Services1. Mentzelopoulos claims she was fired for investigating questionable deal-making involving government officials, including those as high up as the premier’s office.

Nenshi has described this as potentially the worst scandal and coverup in Alberta’s history and is demanding a full public inquiry, an RCMP investigation, and for Premier Smith to step aside during the investigation.
