Bhagwant Mann’s claim of “defaming Punjab” on deportation flights

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the BJP-led central government of deliberately trying to “defame” Punjab by choosing Amritsar as the landing site for deportation flights carrying illegal Indian immigrants from the United States Mann claims that this move is part of a conspiracy to portray Punjabis as the main group involved in illegal immigration

In response, the BJP has refuted Mann’s allegations, accusing him of exploiting the issue for political gain. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal stated that Mann should avoid politicizing such sensitive issues and emphasized that AAP leaders do not care about the security of the country.

Mann has also raised concerns about the security implications of these flights landing so close to the Pakistan border, as Amritsar is just 40 km away from Lahore

पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने भाजपा के नेतृत्व वाली केंद्र सरकार पर आरोप लगाया है कि वह जानबूझकर संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका से अवैध भारतीय प्रवासियों को लाने वाले निर्वासन विमानों के लिए लैंडिंग स्थल के रूप में अमृतसर को चुनकर पंजाब को “बदनाम” करने की कोशिश कर रही है। मान का दावा है कि यह कदम पंजाबियों को अवैध आव्रजन में शामिल मुख्य समूह के रूप में चित्रित करने की साजिश का हिस्सा है। जवाब में, भाजपा ने मान के आरोपों का खंडन किया है, उन पर राजनीतिक लाभ के लिए इस मुद्दे का फायदा उठाने का आरोप लगाया है। भाजपा सांसद प्रवीण खंडेलवाल ने कहा कि मान को ऐसे संवेदनशील मुद्दों का राजनीतिकरण करने से बचना चाहिए और इस बात पर जोर दिया कि आप नेताओं को देश की सुरक्षा की कोई परवाह नहीं है। मान ने पाकिस्तान सीमा के इतने करीब उतरने वाली इन उड़ानों के सुरक्षा निहितार्थों के बारे में भी चिंता जताई है, क्योंकि अमृतसर लाहौर से सिर्फ़ 40 किलोमीटर दूर है
