Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision

4-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Northeast Edmonton

Edmonton, Alberta | June 15, 2026

A tragic pedestrian collision in northeast Edmonton has claimed the life of a four-year-old girl, according to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).

The incident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, near 66 Street and 170 Avenue. Police said the child was walking through a parking lot with her mother when she suddenly broke free and ran onto 66 Street, where she was struck by a Jeep.

Witnesses at the scene immediately began life-saving efforts before Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. The young girl was transported to Stollery Children’s Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The 23-year-old female driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police confirmed that speed and impairment are not considered factors in the collision.

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Support services, including Crime and Trauma-Informed Support Services, are being offered to those affected by the tragedy.

Authorities have not released the identity of the child.
