A rapidly growing wildfire near the Redwater Provincial Recreation Area in Sturgeon County, Alberta, has prompted expanded evacuation orders as of May 7, 2025. The fire, which originated from an off-highway vehicle incident on May 3, has now consumed approximately 1,500 hectares and exhibits extreme fire behavior due to dry conditions and high winds.

Authorities have extended the mandatory evacuation area to include residents between Range Road 213 East to Range Road 203 and from Township Road 580 south to the North Saskatchewan River. Additionally, parts of Thorhild County, specifically between Range Roads 211 to 214 and Township Roads 580 to 584, are under evacuation orders.
All evacuees are directed to register at the Morinville Leisure Centre, located at 25126 Secondary Highway 642. Registration is essential for accessing future support services.
