Edmonton | July 10, 2026

Drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit users in Edmonton should prepare for significant traffic disruptions as the City continues its busy 2026 construction season. Several major infrastructure projects will result in lane reductions, bridge closures, detours, and delays across the city between July 10 and July 16.

City officials are encouraging residents to check the Traffic Disruptions Map and plan alternate routes before travelling.

Key Traffic Disruptions

  • July 16 (7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.): Single-lane closures on Connors Road, Scona Road, and both directions of the Low Level Bridge.
  • July 17 (8 p.m.) – July 20 (6 a.m.): Complete closure of both northbound and southbound Low Level Bridges.
  • Additional lane closures on nearby roads including Grierson Hill, McDougall Hill Road, and 98 Avenue.

50 Street Widening

High Level Bridge

The east sidewalk is expected to partially reopen during the week of July 13, while the section from the southeast staircase to Saskatchewan Drive remains closed.

Mill Creek Trestle Bridge

Girder installation begins July 12, causing:

  • Road closure on 76 Avenue Sunday evening.
  • Delays on 89 Street and 76 Avenue from July 13–15 during early morning deliveries.

Valley Line West LRT

Motorists can expect temporary lane reductions and changing road access around 104 Avenue, 102 Avenue, and Anthony Henday Drive as utility work and rail installation continue through mid-July.

Imagine Jasper Avenue

Construction between 117 Street and 121 Street will now continue seven days a week, including Sundays, until fall 2026.

Weather May Affect Construction

The City noted that ongoing rainfall could delay activities such as paving, excavation, and concrete work. Construction schedules may change depending on weather and site conditions.

Residents are advised to allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and stay updated on traffic conditions before heading out
