The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating the sudden death of an infant after emergency crews responded to a residence in northeast Edmonton on Friday morning.
According to police, officers were called at approximately 11:30 a.m. on July 17, 2026, to assist after a male infant was found unresponsive inside a home. Edmonton Fire Rescue Services and Emergency Medical Services immediately performed life-saving measures before transporting the infant to hospital.
Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, the infant was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made, and investigators are continuing to gather information surrounding the circumstances of the child’s death.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, to help determine the cause and manner of death.
The Edmonton Police Service stated that no further information is available at this time as the investigation continues.
