Edmonton was “Thunderstruck” on Sunday, August 9, as 50,047 fans packed Commonwealth Stadium for a sold-out performance by rock legends AC/DC as part of their PWR UP Tour.
The massive concert brought thousands of fans together for a night of live rock music while hundreds of staff worked behind the scenes to ensure the event was safe and well organized.
More than 510 security guards, 115 ushers and customer service staff, and 125 City of Edmonton event staff were deployed at the stadium. Edmonton Police Service (EPS), Edmonton Transit Service (ETS), emergency medical and first-aid personnel were also on site.
More than 150 merchandise sellers supported the event, while Stadium Foods led a team of more than 800 concession and food-service workers. Transit Peace Officers and EPS officers provided additional public-safety support.
Heather Seutter, Director of Commonwealth Stadium, praised Edmonton fans for their strong turnout despite the summer’s unpredictable weather.
She said hosting major stadium tours and world-class artists has a significant impact on Edmonton, bringing energy to the city while supporting local businesses, creating jobs, attracting visitors and strengthening the city’s cultural scene.
Concertgoers were encouraged to arrive early and use public transportation, including ETS buses, LRT and Park & Ride services. Concert tickets were also accepted as proof of fare when boarding ETS buses or LRT.
The City of Edmonton and its partners provided information, transportation services and customer support throughout the event to help ensure a safe and memorable experience for concertgoers.
And Edmonton’s summer concert season is far from over.
Guns N’ Roses will take the stage at Commonwealth Stadium on August 26.
